Internet Advertising
Through the use of
Natural (Organic) Submissions.
Pros & Cons.
Internet
advertising ordinarily consists of a website describing a
product or service that is for sale.
Many of us sell our products or services on the
Internet through the use of a website. Our website is much
like our salesperson.
Like any other business, our salesperson
represents our product. In order for our website to do its
job, it must be able to present our product to our prospects in
order to sell our product.
In the brick-and-mortar world we can send our
salesperson out to meet our prospects. On the Internet you
need to bring your prospects to your salesperson (your website).
Now we know that when a product or service is
being sought on the Internet, the seeker of the product or
service ordinarily uses a search engine such as Google/Yahoo/MSN
etc. in order to find the product.
These search engines provide a box inviting
the consumer to type in certain text which the consumer believes
would lead him to the product or service that he is seeking.
This text is referred to asked search words/phrases in the
Internet industry.
Natural (sometimes called "organic") submissions
is a free process designed to transmit information about one's
website to the various search engines such as Google, Yahoo/MSN.
The submissions to the search engines are made with the hope
that the website's advertisement will be positioned on the first
pages of the various search engines when the consumer types
certain search words or phrases in the boxes provided by the
search engines.
Internet advertising through the use of natural submissions is a
specialized process. consisting of five stages. The stages
can be enumerated as follows:
First, the website needs to be
optimized for compatibility with the search engines. This
includes revision of the meta-tags in the "head" section of the
underlying code.
Second, search words/phrases that the consumer is likely to
use in order to find the product or service being sold, need to
be developed.
Third, the website needs to be
characterized into a category generally acceptable to the search
engines.
Fourth, creation of Landing
Pages, Sometimes Called Gateway or Doorway Pages. These
pages should be linked to the homepage of the website and be
optimized to attract the search engines within the main subject
matter of the website itself.
Fifth,
presentation of Your Primary Page Information to the Search
Engines And Directories (Such As Google, Yahoo & MSN), And
Many Others, Too Many to Mention.
pros:
The search engines do not charge for natural
submissions, they are free.
If your website ends up to be listed on one of
the first three pages of the major search engine, this can
constitute a Bonanza of free advertising.
cons:
Placement or positioning by the search engine is
determined by your competition and completely out of your
control.
Acceptance or rejection of your website listing
is dependent upon the search engine's determination of the
benefit the search engine will receive by the listing.
Search Engine Optimization is an integral part of
the submission process. In order for it to be done
correctly, it must be done with knowledge and professionalism.
In other words, you will need to learn how to do it.
Even though you may describe your product
or service in your meta-tags, the search engine may describe it
completely differently.
Even though you may use what you believe to be
the correct search words or phrases that would lead to your
website, the search engines may complacently ignore your
suggestions.
Submission to the search engines does not
necessarily bring about the rapid result. Sometimes months
will go by before any any listings occur.
Finally:
Natural submissions should not be relied upon as
an initial attempt to sell a product or service on the Internet.
We recommend Pay per Click Advertising to introduce your product
or service. Once you are satisfied, through the results of
Pay per Click Advertising, that your product or service can be
sold at a profit on the Internet, then Natural Submissions
should be added to your advertising campaigns. This will
provide you with a powerful basis for continued income through
the Internet.
